Class Descriptions:
18 to 36 Months - Red A fun introduction to soccer for parents and children together. We take a developmentally appropriate approach... playing movement games, learning colors, singing, and exploring in this soccer-play class. The class is designed to provide young children the opportunity to develop gross motor skills with a progressive focus on helping them make the connection between their thoughts and ideas to what’s going on in the world around them. ASA provides a fun, safe, and non-competitive environment for parents and children to grow and play together. 3 Year Olds - Blue With an emphasis on balance and coordination, these young players will begin to explore basic soccer fundamentals through games and drills that enhance their foot-eye coordination. Concepts of team-work are supported with cooperative games and paired play. This is the first class without direct parent participation.
4 Year Olds - Green Young students in this stage will begin to refine their gross motor skills (communication and socialization) and cognitive learning (sorting and organizing objects) as well as begin learning some of the essential fundamentals for the game of soccer. Students will practice soccer skills including dribbling, passing, and shooting on a goal. To aid in your child’s social development this class will also begin to focus on the team concept, combining children into teams for activities including relays and scrimmage games. Group activities encourage focused participation and cooperation among class mates.
5 Year Olds - Silver Students will begin fine tuning their basic soccer fundamentals while working on more than just their passing, trapping and dribbling skills. The players are supported with opportunities to practice new and already mastered skills in an environment that encourages active team participation. Technical instruction and socially advanced interaction guide our game play.
6 Year Olds - Gold This advanced class is designed to prepare young athletes for competitive, formal soccer games. The class structure will have a skill-building element for the first portion of the class and then a soccer game structure in the form of a scrimmage. Because no score is kept, we are able to maintain a focus on teamwork and having fun. The coach on the field will at times stop game-play to explain soccer concepts and strategy.
